I know this is tedious but I'm just posting it for me as a reference and as another way to view how my race went. By being able to compare my rankings between the two years under different race conditions the numbers show a number of things. Most obvious is that even though my bike time was the same for both races, relative to everyone else it was around 12 % better. It is one way to be able to make an indirect comparison. Although the competitors are different from year to year, considering the large sample size, it seems pretty justifiable to conclude that I made a fairly significant improvement on the bike even though the time didn't actually show that.
