Very pleased with my performance overall. Feeling jacked up and happy, actually. Walked 1 min at each mile marker, except at mile 5 walked ~30 sec. and didn't walk at mile 6 or course. Took a couple miles to start feeling good on the run but I did start to feel good. It was not nearly as punishing as my first one in La Quinta a few months ago. Only muscle pain (which I've had for the last few weeks since the marathon) came from my left quad/groin, which caused me to shorten my stride a little and be cautious of the leg push off and lift/recovery. Very consistent mile splits. Would have liked to be under 9 min but still happy. Running is still obviously my weakest segment.

Bike was a good ride and good course. The hill going out through Pt Loma was tough but wasn't horrible. The rolling hills out on the penninsula was challenging but not too tough. My downhills seemed to be faster than many riders around me. I wasn't as strong as some riders on the uphills, which was unexpected. Tells me I need to work on my hills even more than I have been. Placing higher in the bike than my overall finish is a positive for sure.

Swim was different because of the water start and it being in the ocean but in a protected bay. Didn't swim quite to expectation. For once I think I swam a little off course, which is funny because it had many buoys to sight on along the way.

Transitions were faster than in my first international distance triathlon in La Quinta regardless of what the actual times were. That's just my sense of how they compare. Did not sit down to dry off feet or to put on shoes and socks. Both T1 and T2 were faster than the average splits of those in my age group. Still need to work on improving my speed.

Mom came and saw me but couldn't get there for the swim part, which is too bad since the view is easy, clear, and close. She saw me come in and go out on T2 plus saw the finish of the race. It was very fun to have her there!
