Since we had kids 27 years ago I have always sort of dreaded June because of all the "stuff" we do during that month. In the past it's meant 2 birthday parties, a combined "family/Fathers' Day" celebration, end-of-school activities, beginning of summer organizing, plus normal every day stuff. Things have changed of course as the 2 boys have gotten older and as we've done things differently but still, the end of June couldn't arrive soon enough!
With family and coaching obligations my training was a bit compromised last week. I reluctantly cancelled my long ride to get the house ready to have family and friends over for Corey's birthday on Sunday. Once plans had been formed 3 weeks prior I knew my training was destined to be compromised though I tried not to accept it until it proved to be inevitable. I just hope I can get back on track in the coming week.
Got an extra swim in last week and thought it might be a breakthrough. The following 2 workouts showed that it wasn't. I just happened to be able to swim faster on that one Tuesday afternoon. Elliptical and walking totals, like swimming, were also actually good. With a mere 2 hours on the bike, even without the long Sunday ride, that is especially terrible. I'll go into the coming week with a 2 week viewpoint so that I can emphasize the bike slightly more and the elliptical somewhat less.
After 13 months of continuous antibiotic usage for chronic "pouchitis" (my version of ulcerative colitis), I took myself off of them and am now using a high grade probiotic. So far symptoms haven't worsened, though I know there is a chance that I'll slowly regress. If that happens then it'll be back to the doctor.
